Self-study courses
The self-study courses offered here are designed to enable you to study aspects of mindfulness & meditation when attending an in-person course is not a viable or attractive option for you. All of the courses offered contain only material that has been clinically verified as being beneficial and effective for reduced stress, anxiety & depression, and are structured so that you can build skill sets that will support you whether you choose to take just one course or several.
Mindfulness & meditation practices help with improved emotion regulation, better sleep, improved function of the immune system and better heart & lung health. People who practice regularly report less frequent experiences of difficult emotions such as anger & fear, they become more skilful at managing these when they do arise & just feel better equipped to cope with life. These short courses may not change your life in just a few days, but they do offer you the opportunity to start making the changes you want to experience. Mindfulness is 'dose dependant' (Prof. Richard Davidson) so the more we practice, the more benefits we experience.
Remember that when you sign up to become a member of Stillworks you receive an invitation to join me for a live online session every month and you can always post questions and comments to the chat for me or other members of Stillworks. Please note: self-study courses are not suitable if you are currently experiencing major emotional distress (e.g. recent diagnosis, bereavement, relationship breakdown etc.) in which case you are recommended to seek advice from myself or another trained professional to ensure that you follow a program that will benefit you.

How To Meditate In 5 Easy Steps
Price £12
Have you ever wondered what meditation actually is? Or what is different about meditation compared with relaxation? What's the difference between meditation and mindfulness? Is it really worth doing?
Maybe you've thought about doing a course but aren't sure whether it's worth investing the time and money in something that might not work for you?
In this short course we address these questions and practise some core skills which will help you get started, and give you the opportunity to try it in a structured way for a minimal investment. You don't get much for £12 these days, but if you find this useful you are buying yourself a set of skills that will support you for the rest of your life.
Each lesson includes a video tutorial and an audio exercise. You can choose whether to complete one lesson per day or one per week. You can revisit each lesson and audio as often as you wish.
You can use this course to help you start a regular practice, or as a preparation for a more intensive course where we explore these themes in more depth and add to these skills to help us re-wire the brain using our natural neuroplasticity, so that we spend less time worrying and more time living a life which is fulfilling and meaningful for us and those we care for.
The most important thing is to remember to be kind to yourself! Remind yourself that you are doing the best you can. Every practice is a chance to experiment and explore, it's not about getting it right, it's about getting it right for you. Meditation is meant to help us feel better, not to be another stick to beat ourselves with or to add more stress to our already stressful busy lives.
